bmvaughn: We have a (white) president that's remarkably inarticulate. I also think it's true that Obama is decidedly more articulate than your average senator, including Biden.

I'd like to play devil's advocate here for a bit, because I don't necessarily buy the idea that describing Obama as "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy" is evidence of some subtle racism on Biden's part.

In terms of how well Newsvine works, yeah. But as someone who might be a UI designer (I'm currently in grad school, caught between HCI and game design), it'd be nice to cite official credit on a job application. :)

This whole issue of who gets credit makes me wonder.... I'm arguably the reason why the layout of the front page "below the fold" is the way it is now (one can check my article and comment history for proof).

Economics may not be physics, but economic "laws" (or at least, conventional wisdoms like the expected impact of a rise in MW on unemployment) have to be substantiated by empirical evidence, no matter how difficult it might be to isolate causal factors.

Observer, the 1994 Card-Krueger paper is essentially what started the debate. As one of the commenters on the Cafe Hayek post points out, this is why it's a "standard reference", which doesn't mean the sole reference. As eidolon points out, there are other studies that take similar positions.
